Whether
the plan is to party like it’s 1999, 2199 or 1599,
event
designer Gregory Patrick’s number is first on the speed dial
and top of the Rolodex with Houston’s socially savvy and corporate
elite.
Patrick
has been planning the millennium’s most magical evening for
a local couple and their select group of globetrotting friends
for the past few months, preparing them for a whirlwind experience
that will last for two full weeks in various luxury spots
across Europe. The adventure begins even before they leave
the Lone Star State, with Patrick’s Tours of Enchantment staff
ironing out every travel wrinkle, right down to picking up
dry cleaning, arranging for pets of the house to be boarded
and stopping the mail for the duration of the trip.
“I take
things to the next level,” Patrick says. “I think of things
to blow the senses because I want every experience to be the
best for my clients.” Some of his special touches include
a police motorcade escorting a client to the airport, world-renowned
chefs flown into vacation spots and personal assistant for
each client throughout their vacation. Hotels are a no-no.
Patrick’s connections reach to Jane Seymour’s castle in England
or Mick Jagger’s vacation home on the island of Mustique,
where his clients hide away. Enron, Baker Hughes, Entex, Pace
and other companies frequently employ him to plan unforgettable
company retreats and personal getaways.
